Prerequisites for the PADI Rescue Diver course
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or Junior Advanced Open Water Diver) certification, or equivalent from another organization
Must be at least 12 years old
Completed Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care training (or equivalent first aid/CPR training) within the past 24 months
Medically fit to dive as per the PADI Medical Form. A "yes" answer to any condition requires a doctor's clearance
As per Andaman regulations, divers over 50 must present a valid medical certificate for scuba diving
Good physical condition to handle potential rescue scenarios
A comprehensive blend of theory and practical rescue training
Build the foundation with five knowledge development sections covering accident prevention, emergency management, and rescue techniques

Answers to common questions about the Rescue Diver course
The course typically takes 3-4 days to complete, including knowledge development, confined water sessions, and open water rescue scenarios. The exact duration may vary based on your pace and schedule.
While you don't need to be an Olympic swimmer, good swimming ability and comfort in the water are important. You should be able to swim 200 meters without stopping and tread water for 10 minutes.
You'll need standard scuba equipment plus a pocket mask for rescue breathing practice. All equipment can be rented from our dive center if you don't have your own.
The course can be physically challenging as it involves practicing rescue techniques that may require swimming while assisting another diver. However, our instructors ensure the training is progressive and tailored to each diver's abilities.
First aid and CPR skills are essential components of dive rescue. The EFR course provides these vital skills, ensuring you're prepared to handle medical emergencies both in and out of the water.
Many divers with disabilities successfully complete the Rescue Diver course. We evaluate each situation individually to ensure we can provide appropriate training while maintaining safety standards.
